Well done to the U13 girls’ football team who reached the semi-final of the County Cup. Unfortunately they lost in the semi-final at home to Maiden Erlegh School.

It was a great match between two very strong teams. We scored two early goals and were 2-1 up at half time. But we could not hold on and the game ended 2-2 and we had to play extra time. Both teams had chances to win the game, but extra time ended 0-0. So we had to go to penalties and it wasn’t meant to be for us.

But the team has lots of potential and talent and we know they will go on to do big things in the future. Well done to the whole squad. Well done to Alice who was awarded player of the match.

 

Year 8 Football

The Year 8 boys’ football team played a league game against a very good Trinity side. The boys were 1-1 at half time but unfortunately lost the game 3-1. Joint player of the match for Rory Tucker (first goal for school) and Rory McLellan.

 

Year 11 Football

Well done to the Year 11 football team who beat Trinity 2-1. The match was full of good performances, but the players of the match were the back four and Jimmy. Well done to all.

Here are some recent highlights from our Year 7, 10 and 11 teams.

Year 7 Football

Well done to the 24 boys who represented the school at the West Berkshire Area Football Tournament.

St Bart’s fielded three teams, and every boy represented the school superbly, with wins for each team.

Players of the tournament were Euan, Marek and Adam.

 

Year 10 Football

The Year 10 boys’ football team travelled to The Downs School in the league.

The final score was 1-3 to The Downs, with Eddie scoring for St Bart’s just before full time.

A special thank you to Sean and Riccardo who played up a year group.

Players of the match were Connor and Kobi.

Year 11 Football

Well done to the Year 11 football team who won against The Downs School.

St Bart’s won 3-2 with just 10 players. Great team performance and attitude that made up for having one less player. Special mention to Freddie who scored two goals. Player of the match was awarded to Jez for a great defensive display and for also scoring the first goal. Well done all!

 

Congratulations to all students who took part in a slightly unforgiving Cross Country course last week at Mary Hare, a beautiful setting but a challenging course, which they all took on board with grit and determination.

Girls

U13 Girls

2^nd place out of 9 schools

Runners were Jessie McCurtin, who finished in a superb 3^rd position, Hattie Mason, Rose Cooper, Mabel Roberson, Olivia Dow, Darcey Herdman, Alice Kirby, Sunna Mahmoud, Maya Buczkowska, Freya Ilsley and Sophie Yorston.

U15 Girls

2^nd place out of 9 schools

Runners were Anna Hall, 9^th place, Chloe Yorston, Daisy Wallis, Lauren Baily, Emmeline Lloyd, Eva Mahoney, Sofia Hughes, Mariella Frood, Violet Hughes, Georgia Hillyer and Ellena Clare.

U17 Girls

1^st place out of 7 schools

Runners were Isla Clare in fabulous 1^st position, closely followed by Katya Burgess in 2^nd place and Olive Muir in 3^rd place which were brilliant finishing positions, Brooke Thomasson, Izzy McAnally, Anna Delavere, Georgia Knight in a well deserved 6^th place, Chloe Shore and Erin Cameron.

U20 Girls

1^st place went to Kirsten Fraser, which was a superb achievement back on the Cross Country circuit!

A tremendous and very successful team effort from you all – very well done and thank you!

 

Boys

The boys completed a clean sweep, winning every age group team category.

 

U13 (Year 7) – 1st out of 10 schools

U15 (Year 8 and 9) – 1st out of 9 schools

U17 (Year 10 and 11) – 1st out of 7 schools

U20 (Year 12 and 13) – 1st out of 2 schools

 

Top finishers included:

U13 – Rupert Knight 3rd, Alex Rowe 4th.

U15 – Antonio Valdivia 1st, Jacob Tang 6th. A special mention must go to Henry Wilson who led for most of the race, but sprained his ankle on the last section – and still carried on to finish 10th.

U17 – Haydn James 6th.

U20 – Charlie Adams 1st, Aston Howse 2nd.

 

You did so well and we are really proud of you all for your fantastic achievements.
